Enjoyed our midweek break walking the Barrow way and our stay was enhanced by the warm hospitality experienced in the Step House.We were welcomed with hot scones & coffees at the open fire in reception.Our superior room(with balcony) was warm with a comfortable king size bed and we began each day in the Cellar restaurant with a 5* full Irish breakfast,tastefully cooked.Evening dinner in the 1808 bar was fine dining at it's best even if we missed out on dessert.Looking forward to a return.

The dining experience at The Step House was outstanding. We knew it was good, but the food was 'off the richter scale' delicious. The warmest of welcome from the family owned hotel and we were delighted to meet Cait tending to her garden and little did we know she was quietly planning a surprise when she learned it was our wedding anniversary and we received a specially decorated 'anniversary' dessert. Borris is a hidden gem and the viaduct walk, grounds of Borris House and access to the Barrow way are so easy from The Stephouse. Wonderful value for money and we'll be back!

Your staff should be commended. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Their professionalism and friendliness was always in evidence and I have no doubt they make your hotel the success it is.
